Genetics question....

benzman1 Aug 17, 2004 01:16 PM

As you can see Gabe's tail is short and fat and this is how I bought her. My question is, if I breed her will this short tail be passed down? Thanks...

it looks like Gabes tail is regenerated rather then gentics, just by looking at the size and the texture, it looks to be minuse the little bumbs that other leo tails have.

^...slightly confused about the above answer? lol. but as long as it really is a regrown tail and not a mutation there is NO chance it could be passed on to her offspring. even if she was born like that it will only be passed on to her offspring if it is a dominant trait or the male is het for it.

I purchased her like that so I do not know if it is a genetic tail or regen tail.

its definately a regen, it function fine and won't be passed on, i've seen worse - 2 tails/nubs had started to grow from one regened tail... it was sad
take a look at other pics of leos, typically they will have like round segments. He's very cute though :D
