Why doesn't someone start breeding local Bufo? Could make some money selling them to hog keepers!

For some strange reason, as prolific as amphibians are in the wild, it just is not feasible to raise them in captivity to a size where they are useful as feeders and cheap enough to make money. So basically, you won't see any toads sold in the same form as mice. Any amphibians you see sold for feeders are basically pillaged from the wild, most certainly in an unsustainable manner, and most likely housed in unsanitary conditions.

I strongly urge you to limit your use of wild caught amphibians. You can collect DOR frogs by the dozens, or keep a live toad as a "pet" to use as scenting.
