hand taming question?????????

LeopardGecko05 Aug 17, 2004 04:28 PM

Hey everyone,

It's me again ask ya'll another question about the wonderful world of leo caretaking. Here's my first question: How do I get leo to trust my hand when I put it in the cage?

Second question: How do I hand tame her so that when or if she does choose to crawl up to my shoulder when I go to grab her she won't jump off and hurt herself?

Thrid question: When I gutload the cricket and them my leo does she get fat that way, or am i so suppose to give something else to fatten her up?

Last question: Is it normal for a leo to spit out her food because mine did, but I notice then that if the crickets were powder with calcium she would spit out. But they weren't she would about eat 2-4 of the cricket(she won't the meal worms at all). Is this normal for a baby leo to do?

Thanx in advance

---Most leos when young are very skittish. Try holding a peice of food in front of her and see if she'll take it. Another good thing to do instead of just taking her out and her spazzin out is just hold you hand near hear, and wait for a bit. She might get curious and investigate.

Thrid question: When I gutload the cricket and them my leo does she get fat that way, or am i so suppose to give something else to fatten her up?
---The best way to get a leo well fed is off good foods. Gutloading her crickets well and beefin her up on those is alot better than feeding her a bunch of waxies.

My adult female sometimes wonteat her food if it's dusted. Not sure what you could do, shes just bein a picky eater I guess. I guess you could try a different brand of calcium dust.

The best way to tame a leo is to wait for it to GROW up! Its hard to wait but babies are very small and skiddish. They will naturally calm down a bit when they're older then you can really tame them. Its all about patience, also about that shoulder thing, i dunno man if you find out how to keep them on your shoulde then let me know. Mine seem enjoy plummeting to their deaths...

Mine did that too; I just had one jumped from my shoulder to ground a few weeks ago, and that one used to be very tame. So...I am not letting any of them on my shoulder anymore
