I went to petco today and I was amazed at thier leos! They have snows, albinos and several pretty designers. They looked healthy and I got to see some eat. I talked to one of employees and he really knows his stuff. I am going to go back and buy one of the albinos for $29.

I know I need a heat light for the cage but what kind? The cage I'm thinking about buying is a 20 long I think.

I just use a 60 watt bulb in a clamp lamp and the works great for me.

What petco and where?

I have bought a few tangerines, and abberents, but I have yet to see a snow. You should definately buy the snow if indeed it is one.

Nice gecko. I hope the albino I buy turns out nice. They had all the leos priced the same.

I applied after seeing the condition of some of their herps. I hope I can get hired and do some convincing of better ways to care for these animals. Ive worked in pet stores before so hopefully my experience can get me hired.
What I've been noticing with their leos is that they are getting them in as very very young hatchlings [younger than 3 weeks] and are feeding them regular sized meal worms, these things are bigger than the little guys' heads :/

I think that your experience (in most cases) will be the reason you don't get the job. More experience means that you're usually asking for more pay than some high school kid who'll clean cages and give wrong information for minimum wage. Hopefully the one by you does care and will look at that as a plus. If they really just care about the bottom line you have a slim chance. Just an observation. Let us know what happens.

yes you need to be 18 to work there.. there was a lot of dealings with the child labor laws which vary from state to state.. so they made the min. age 18..

if you are going for cashier try for at least $6.50 and if you are trying for Reptile specialist then shoot at least $7.25 or even $8.00. If you have lots of experience, you might try to get more.. don't only look at the wage amount either..think of the discounts you can get off animals and supplies.. if you do a good job the yearly raises are decent too..

yeah in another year I'll be out of the crap state of NJ so I'm not looking for a long time career. I really just acted on impulse, I have a job at the moment so I dont know if it would even work out. I think within this last year I may find a private pet store like the one I was at before with herps that will hire me.

Most petco's get their leos from gourmet rodent, nthey only ship morphs such as tangs, hypo tangs, albinos, patternless and blizzards(aka leucistic) for some of you who dont know what that means, its a totally white or grey patternless leo

occasionally they will have baby shtct's

what you probably saw was a washed out normal, there are many of those at the petco here, unless the baught snows from someone else, you most likely saw a normal with a washed out color

I really doubt Petco would sell snow leos, if they did they would probably be a really low grade, are u sure you are not confusing them with blizzards or possibly patternless(leucistics) its not uncommon to get lighter colored geckos that appear as something else and not all patternless geckos are yellow when young, however only time will tell. I'll stop by my petco tomorrow and see whats up.. i have a connection..I can clear this up..

As far as the geckos all being sold at the same price.. It was just normals(high yellow, hypos, tangs) intially, occasionally a leucistic (patternless) would be added in the shipment, they were considered "added bonuses" for the stores. Now with geckos being all the more common (than they were previuosly). they are plentiful and a variety of each morph is sent out in each shipment. The stores are able to offer a better variety of leos. They do the same thing with corn snakes as well. It would not surprise me if blizzards were to start popping up in shipments eventually.. The $29.99 is a decent retail price for any leopard gecko.

Then that store made a mistake....That can happens when you have 4-5 different sku numbers for the same animal..

just to let you know as far as i can tell i have also seen snow babies at petco i have boughten the only one i have seen and i will see how it turns out just because they have no yellow as babies doesnt mean anything yet mostwill have some sort of yellow as adults but the one i got is 4 grams and it is pure white with black bands so only time will tell from here

They are NOT snows..just leucistic (patternless)geckos..They also had the adult leucistics too. While i was there I also picked up a nice White's Treefrog.

I saw a tangerine at petco once...but it was gone the next day

I dont have any leopard geckos yet...
In a couple of weeks right now I am properly setting
Up the tank and getting "stuff for the little leo"
I do have 3 ferrets and 4 dogs.

hey geckogod i hope you are not telling me that what i have is a patternless or as you call it a leucistic (which is a wrongly labeled name )i know geckos i am not saying it will grow up to be a snow but as of now he is APPERING to be a snow it is much to early to tell for he is only 4 grams more than likely he will yellow out as he/she grows only time will tell that but i was just wondering what you /who you were saying was not a snow and is a patty Regaurds Billy
