Well i had one about a year ago that i lost to egg drop but i want to give them another try (male this time) but just want a few things cleared up. What is everyone's take on the need for open air enclosures? How much handling is too much? what is the ideal temp/lighting? thanks..

You really do need an all screen enclosure. You'll spare yourself from some potentailly lethal problems by going with a screen enclosure. Definately go with a male, you already know why.
