CB Super Dwarf Retics

hermitcore Aug 17, 2004 09:09 PM

My super dwarfs just got in this morning and I'm stunned. These things are TINY. The male weighs 40 grams right now. They hatched out in April (if I recall correctly). The box the female below is in is 7" across to give you an idea of how tiny they are. They're really inquisitive like normal retics. I haven't gotten tagged yet so I don't think they have much interest in biting. I'm off to go try to find some mouse pinkies for my retics. :D

Great looking Dwarfs! Good luck with them. Just out of curiousity, are you going to provide them with a hide box (I didn't see one in the pic)? I didn't do so with my retic (when he was a baby, or even now after a year and a half) because I always kind of thought hide boxes would make them more timid and slow to getting used to my presence in general. Not to mention I would never see him during the day!

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this subject.

The tubs they're in now are 7" x 10" and you can see how much space they take up in it. The rack is black with a water dish out the front so unless I'm pulling the tub out they don't see much of anything.

When I move them into a larger enclosure I will provide hide boxes. Some snakes love them and some snakes could care less. The ones that never use them I usually remove the boxes. I try to let the snake decide.
