Birth Announce ment and Seeking Candy and Bach, havent been here in 1yr

lepidosauria Aug 18, 2004 01:45 AM

Well I haven't been here in a year, though I used to be quite an addict. If either Candy or Bach are still here I just want to say hi and thank you for your help when I really got into anoles 3-4yrs ago. To the rest of you I would like to introduce myself. I've been keeping 2 green anoles in a heavily planted 33gal terrarium for probably 3yrs now. I have a peat/vermiculite substrate and I guess my female laid 3 eggs awhile ago because over teh last 3 days I've found 3 baby anoles scampering around in the terrarium. I've moved them to a 5.5 gal tank I had spare for the mean time, my new UV bulb is on order and should be here in a few days. The babes are in beautiful shape, staying green most of the time. Quick question, most of my links I had saved are no longer active so I'm looking for some breeding info for these lil gaffers. mostly I need temp requirements if differnet from the adults. and I'd like to know how many and how often a green anole should lay eggs b/c my female is 3 yrs old and I didnt think she would start producing all of a sudden. The male and female have been togather for a yr now and this is the first I've seen of eggs or babes. Anyways its good to be back here again.

Welcome back and congratulations!

I think the best info on the web is still the care sheet here on Kingsnake: Anole Care

I look forward to hearing how the babies do! Out of curiosity, what are you feeding them currently?

Thank you. I have never looked at any of the care sheets on kingsnake, just never dawned on me. My mainstay is has been Anapsid.org for reptile care. I'm feeding the lil guys pinheads and I really mean pinheads, these are some of the smallest crickets I've seen in some time. I'm trying to get a line on some flightless Drosophila but its proving more difficult than I had hoped in my area.

Thanks again, I just got a Olympus770 digital camera today so I'll post some pics soon.

Hurrah for baby pictures!!

I know you can get flightless flies online at places like Reptilefood.com or American Cricket Ranch.
