Deppei deppei just ate

dave7739 May 14, 2003 05:56 PM

My '01 deppei deppei just ate again after about 3mos. (she took a live fuzzy back in march but puked it up)My temps have been in the high 70's never above 81 on the warm end. Should I raise the temps a bit or should I leave things as they are? Her hide box stays pretty consistant 75-80 degrees during the day and drops to about 70 at night. BTW she actually ate last night f/t pinkie it's now 4pm the next day. How long do i need to worry? My '02 deppei is taking f/t pinks weekly without a problem.Any response would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

I think your temps are OK. One thing I always do when a snake has regurge is use paper towel as substrate so I can easily find the poop or puke. I would just wait it out for a while and feed the snake again a day or 2 after I found some poop in the tank. Good luck with everything. Tom

Thanks for the response. She is on paper towels and I just checked, no puke. Yeah! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the next 2 days. It's kinda funny cuz she ended up taking a large f/t pinkie after I poked a hole in it's head with a nail, I hadn't even though about doing that for a yearling but it worked.Wish me luck,
Dave

hopefully everything will turn out great. It is very hard for me to only feed my deppei one smaller meal a week or 10 days, but they are growing very well, i'm amazed at how much they've grown on such a small diet.
Good luck, and keep us updated.

I am right there with ya Gregg!

Pits don't need to be pushed heavily from a dietary standpoint, but then all snakes, in my opinion, shouldn't. One meal a week is what I have been doing and my fastest growers have been my Applegate gopher, and my capes. It is tempting to feed pits more, and some do without any disastrous results, but, feeding them once a week is plenty. My adult pits, sometimes get fed every other week. I look at how their weight is, and skip a meal sometimes, and they do great.

Take care!

I agree Billy, once a week is plenty for feeding. I feed all my adults once a week, and some babies every 5 days. But i also feed smaller sized animals then what they could eat, so they don't take long to digest their meals. Speaking of feeding, i need to order some more rodents.
Have a good one,
