Hi, I have bred them and recieved eggs but like many, did not hatch them.(a long time ago) I have pics of them breeding. I only had a pair, and she died of ovarian cancer, I also have pics.
Our approach to breeding monitors is basic, I treat them all the same. First aquire pairs, of the proper sex(kinda important) then allow them to attain good health. Without good health, there is no need to concern any other aspect. Then socialize the monitors. That is, if they do not get along, they will have a hard time breeding. Althought, this is not necessary, it sure is helpful.
The details of all the above is more individual then it is species orientated. The species part is so simple, decide whether to use dirt or leaves, more water or less water, hiding places in dirt or limbs, logs, bark, etc. Type of nesting, dirt or otherwise. If your particular local or morph, is different, then its your job to find the difference. We find lots of different nesting choices within one species. So to answer you about different morphs, is more or less useless.
My suggestion is to learn the possiblilities and test them with your monitor/s.
I love peachies and I am waiting form someone to hatch some for me(you know who you are) I have taken the hard road many many times and will enjoy the easy road with captive hatched. I hope some of this helps.
One more thing. When you attempt to breed species that have not been bred or rarely bred, then its all on your shoulders. Don't expect others to be of specific help. Thanks FR
