Anyone have leos that absolutely hate crickets?

gothra Aug 18, 2004 08:16 PM

I have two. I am trying to give them a variety, but even if I just add 1 cricket in their worm dish, they would refuse everything, even the mealworms that they love. How bad is it for them to just eat mealworms and supers for their whole life? I'll gut-load them very well.

Update on the diet girl Whitie, she ate nothing since the diet began last week, I think I'm about to surrender and give her a few mealworms tonight

p.s. My personal breakthrough, I picked up a cricket with my bare fingers last night!! I don't mind picking up mealworms and supers, but crickets...it's my husband's job to deal with crickets. But I did it, the first time in 2.5 years!

Actually i think most breeders feed their animals mealworms exclusively from birth

I feed mine crix as a treat because I, not the leos, hate crix :D
And good on you for picking one up... i may never reach that stage, i think its just their stench. I absolutely hate it

Mine love crix, but take mealies kind of slow really.

I think the meal worms just aren't active enough to get them excited. But put in a few crix, and the hunt is on!
