New Crasted Gecko Owner (hopefully) some questions

NomadOfTheHills Aug 19, 2004 11:53 AM

In september I am planning on going to the LIHS show and was going to pick up a western hoggy. However, I have recently aquired an injured hatchling norther water snake, so I really don't want another snake right now

I am doing research now, and they seem to be great and hardy pets!

I have a 55 gallon hexagonally, if I were to buy 2 hatchlings at the show, would they live peacefully in that?

Hi-They would be more than happy in a 55. What do you have for a cover for that? Is it a screen cover? Just curious-I haven't had much luck finding covers for hex tanks. You would actually be able to keep a pretty good size group in there-just watch the sexes that you put together. While they're young they're fine regardless of what they are but as they grow males may become aggressive towards other males. Cresteds are definitely a fun little critter-you should definitely get some. Best of luck.

Thanks, I get chicken wire and make my own screens for it!

Also, what is the binomial nomenclature for crested geckos?
