Ceramic Heat emiter vs. UTH.....

snakeypete Jun 24, 2003 01:26 PM

Hello all,

My UTH fried out on my tank the other day so when at the pet store to pick up a new one I saw the ceramic heat emitters.

Which one do you favour? My UTH gets fairly hot, so I was considering using a heat emitter instead or switch to a rheostat or thermostat to regulate heat a little easier.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

I use a rheostat or similar product on all heat sources. The ceramic heat emitters last a long time, but they make the humidity drop terribly. The only use I have for the ceramic types now is to help thaw rodents.

1 - Belly heat is more important for snakes than above heat.

2- Buy a human heating pad- they're $12 and have 3 heat levels. That's what I use.

...yeas the ceramic heat emitters are good for desert lizards. Get the rheostat or thermostat. SJM
