gavinclews Aug 19, 2004 12:33 PM

My eggs are now at 70 days. I wouldnt normally be bothered but i candled a few of them a couple of hours ago and they didnt seem to be moving. They have always moved around before and you could see the tail moving around but now nothing. The last couple of days the eggs have been sweating a little ( well one or two) but now they have stopped. do you think something is wrong with them?? im a little worried and need a few posts to reasure me. thanx

For some reason, when ever you keep checking, they take longer. Be patient, they will hatch.

What about the not moving. Is that anything to worry about or do they just do that? They are big. You can see their haeds up against the shell of the egg. Are they just asleep or something?? lol

When they are close to hatching...they are too big to move much....they do move, but it's just not evident as when they were smaller and literally swimming in the egg...

Patience is in order...they will hatch in their own time....not to make you crazy, but I had one female who's eggs never hatched before 82 days and averagely hatched at 86 days...the bonus was they were 5 inches right out of the egg....now I admit that's not the norm, but maybe your clutch isn't the norm either...

I'll be sending egg hatching thoughts your way....

most the time I don't see any. Them not moving isn't a sing of trouble.

I've had three clutches of eggs, this year, go over 80 days before the first egg hatched. One egg made it to 88 days when it hatched. I opened two at 90 days and they were fully developed but had died in the egg. I try to handle the eggs this late in the game as little as possible. I will admit there is nothing as agonizing as waiting for your first clutch of eggs to hatch, regardless of what type of reptile.
