Dehydratation? Urgent!!!!!

miki00 Aug 19, 2004 02:30 PM

I posted about a week ago that my BRB was getting wrinkled skin, someone told me that it was because it was about to shed or if not, it was dehydration.
The snake went "in blue" and about 2 days ago it went to clear, and still hasn't shed. Should i wait or should i go the vet imediatley? His skin is more wrinkled. I mist the cage in the about 5 times a day to keep the substrate damp. The humidity level is 75% and the temperature is 84°F. It has a big bowl of water. If it helps, i have a under tank heater below the water bowl so the water evaporates and creates more humidity. I unplugged it today.
Please help me!!!

Mikki did it shed in one piece? If so that is a good sign that humidity is at an acceptable level.

How old is the snake? Babies need a humidity in the 70% range whereas the adults do fine a little lower.

What type of caging are you using? If it's a screened lid terrarium a lot of the humidity will escape into the air. You'll need to monitor the cage more actively if that's the case.

Unfortunately, he sheded in 2 pieces. Its skin is gorgeous. He is in a 10 gallon aquarium, its a temporary home, i'll be building its home with plexiglass or acrylic in a few weeks. I have a pice of acrylic covering the screen top, it covers about 3/4 of the screen. He is about 1 1/2 or 2 months old.
