Okay So what's the secret?

briggzer Aug 19, 2004 02:55 PM

So I went to the pet store today and bought three pinkies for my three leos. One is a little bigger than the other two but even the smaller two should be able to eat a pinkie. So what's the secret to getting them to eat them? I tried hand feeding after dipping the pinkies rump into calcium powder like I've read about. They licked them but then were scared because of the thing flailing around while I was holding it. So I prekilled them. I've left them into the cage with each leo hoping maybe they will still eat them. If they're not gone in a couple of hours I'll remove them. Anyone with info as to what to do next time would be appreciated.

if its not moving, I doubt the geckos will eat it. Pinkies are weird. Sometimes my guys love em and eat two, othertimes they aren't interested in them at all. Its a hit and miss kinda game.

Yah, I have one female who ignores them completely.. and she's layed eggs! I have to resort to powerfeeding waxworms for her.

I don't use prekilled food for anything of mine, though I can see the use on larger herps like Varanids or most Boids
try an active little pinky for your Leos and see if they'll take it.

Try spreading a little honey/fruit babyfood to the pinky. It has worked for me tricking my BTS to eat his veggies on a regular basis. Dont know bout leos though.
