Curtisr_25 Aug 19, 2004 06:22 PM

Does anybody know anything about Exo Terra's Jungle Earth substrate for pac man frog?

If this is the stuff made out of coconut hulls, and comes in a brick, I've used it for some time now without problems.
I use it for my frogs, and salamanders.

Exo Terra and/or Bed-a-Beast is all ideal for a Pac Man frog. It won't hurt them if they accidentally ingest it.

Exo-terra's substrate Jungle Earth is not coconut husk fiber like bed-a-beast or similar products. It is a mix of soils and bark, mostly consisting of cypress mulch from what I can tell. I used it at work a few times with a surrendered box turtle and liked it however I would hesitate to use it with most amphibians. The large pieces of bark could potentially be swollowed and cause problems. If it is used you might want to consider feeding the frog from tweezers, in another cage or from a dish to prevent the frog from swollowing the larger pieces of bark. A safe soil or simple substrate would probably be a better option. Good luck,
