heat rocks: they burn animals, it is just poor husbandry
reptariums: they are for chameleons, monitors have different needs. it effects their skin, dehydration and needed temps negatively.
substrate: yours is not adequate and the plastic barrier at the bottom of reptariums (used for excess water from watering chams) is not a dirt dam.
there are so many resources for proper husbandry on the net. if you will listen and won't waste my time I will go over it with you in an email or you can just go through the archives here. the only reason your blackthroat looks half decent is because it is brand new.
