New snakes a bit aggressive - Read Please advice needed

dmlove Aug 19, 2004 10:21 PM

Well i just got my two yearling Redtails (columbian). They are about three foot long. When i got them out of the box one was kind of staying in the striking position and the other was fine and i could handle. I set them in the cage for about 45 minutes and went down to see how they were and when i opened the cage and tried to get one out, it got in the striking position and the other one struck out a few times. Im geussing it is because of stress and all that good stuff, so i left them alone, and will for a few days hpefully. Does this sound like just an aggressive snake(s) or stress? Since i just got them in today im geussing stress. Well anyways, any tips for aggressive snake handling (just in case). I know getting bit by a 3 footer is nothing compared to getting nailed by a 10 footer, but just want some advice!

Thanks all so much, ill post pictures soon!

probley just stressed, I hope you are keeping them in differnt cages.... but, give them a week or two to get used to there new home, then try to handle them, they should have calmed down by then.

good luck, and cant wait to see pics

probably just stress. when i rec'd one of my snakes it acted the same way for a day or two. just in case you may want to get a snake
hook. this really helps and shows the snake that you are in control. good luck with your new guys.
