Female Collard Should be laying yesterday.

CollardGuy Jun 24, 2003 02:25 PM

How long does it take female Collard lizards after mating to lay their eggs? Mine has six (i think) round bulges almost half an inch long in her sides. (I know she mated about 5 weeks ago, but she could have mated a little later too. Even so I thought it only took 20 days after mating!)

If she is gravid, be sure to give her plenty of calcium...you can also supplement her diet with vegetables...like collared greens.

you are providing your female COLLARED lizard an appropriate, spacious location in which to lay her clutch of eggs. Incidentally, there is no precise timetable that I know of for how long it takes a female Crotaphytus to oviposit. Personally, I have seen female collareds in captivity lay as few as 16 days following mating, while others have occasionally taken over a month to oviposit...
