My Leucistic

marktexas Aug 20, 2004 01:44 AM

Well, I didn't have anything better to do tonight so I took a few photos. They are a little washed out from the flash and being in a white deli cup.

An amazing snake from South Mountain Reptiles. Thanks Don!

I do like. How is his/her tempermant? I havent looked too much into the leucistics...although they've always been a personal favorite.

Her temperament is fantastic (knock on wood). She struck at me only once when she was in the blue, just a closed mouth strike.

She is very mellow and very easy to work with. Even the day she arrived she was not hostile. After the shipping experience of being bounced around in a deli cup inside a box for 24 hours will give the sweetest snake the attitude of a black mamba. That was not the case with her. She came out of the deli cup was very curious about her new cage, and showed absolutely no sign of aggression to this day.

Thats how my licorice stick was. She just doesn't give a damn, lol. However, she also just stays in her cave all the time...the only time i see her is if she sticks her head out. My neonate black rat was also just as mild tempered...never struck at me...however he tried to run out of my hansd when i first picked him up. he calmed down after 3 handlings, however.

How old is s/he?

Very nice. I've always loved the blue eyed Leucistic Ratsnakes, but I must say those red eyes on yours looks like rubys. Glad you have a very calm Texas Rat. I've held a few at shows and none were happy to see me. Might have to check with Don and ask for one of his kickback, easy going Leucistic Ratsnakes LOL
Very nice. Blue eyed or red, they're just stunning animals.

I guess from the flash her eyes might look red, but the are very blue. A flash can do funny things.

It's funny because before I ordered the snake, I asked Don what the temperament of his leucistic's were. He said they were little monsters. I was very pleasantly surprised that this one has been so mellow.

My bad. Like you said, I guess the flash is playing tricks on me LOL I've seen the blue eyed ones, but have not seen any of the red eyed specimens before. I'll have to look for one at the next show I attend. Take care,

Steve
