Somestimes, when the house is quiet (like at night), I can hear my horned frog digging against the glass in the bottom of her tank, presumably trying to dig deeper. I already have over 6 inches of substrate in there, and it is definately enough to completely cover the frog with inches to spare. But this frog still wants to burrow deeper. My temps are all within the right degrees, and so is my humidity. This frog would probably bury herself ten feet if I had her in something that deep! Does anyone have any comments or advice, besides creating a tank that's 50 feet deep?

A bunch of Oscar cichlids, one giant pleco, huge breeding lot of "fancy" (read: deformed) goldfish, and me an' the boyfriend.

All my larger frogs do the same thing as well. I wouldn't worry about it as all the horned and african bullfrogs I have had have done this, and the only detrimental effect I can see is the human keeper losing sleep lol. I suppose you would always put some sort of softer barrier in between the glass and the substrate. I don't know if something like foam rubber would work or have any ill effects on the frog, but something of that sort would stop her from at least making noise while trying to dig deeper.
