Can a newbee do this

I am still thinking of trying my hand at PDFs I have a small hex tank I would guess in the area of 5 gallons I was thinking maybe one frog could be housed in the tank it has almost 1 sqare foot of floor space. this tank is begining to eritate me only because it seems to be almost useless due to the extreme small size I have been keeping just guppies in there till now. such a pain

well not to be rude but whats the fun in having a tank so small with just one frog?? Most frogs require 5 and the larger darts need 10gal per frog. i don't feel you should keep a frog cramped up in that little thing. The smallest people usually go is a 10gallon but most like even bigger

5 gallons is O.K. for a temporary nursery tank for froglets, but PDF's just aren't interesting except pairs or groups, and this requires larger set-ups. A single frog is just that-- no interaction, nothing to look at for either the frog or you. Breeders often just use simple 10 gallon tanks for pairs, but hobbyists usually like the real rainforest idea. This requires 30 gallons or more to make it work and still look good. Keep the 5 gallon for your guppies and plan a larger setup with a pair, or a group (depending upon species) of darts. I had four auratus in a 20 gallon for a couple of years, but they are far better off, less shy and more entertaining in a new 30 gallon. The rest of my frogs are in 30 to 80 gallon tanks, with lots of plants, waterways, and such.
