hi all,

i've just got a leopard gecko, a normal phase which my fren just hatched.

its been like 3 days? and it has not eaten anything..

i placed it in a small enclosure with minimal furniture, just a hide, and paper towels as bedding, so as to ensure its eating, but so far.. its has not..

tried crix, baby mealworms which i had been breeding for fun, and even small mealworm beetles.

been keeping beardies and uromastyx..

kinda baffled.. anyone could help?

well 3 days isn't too long since its got to get aclimated to its new enviro. Make sure its drinking water
Also try to avoid the feeding the beetles.

Also check your temps and make sure they're high or low enough
That's the only things i can think of now
good luck

How old is the leo, you said that your friend just hatched it. If it hasn't gone through it's first shed yet, it won't eat. Normally they start eating after their first shed, and if he or she has already shed then just keep offering it food and when it gets hungry it will eat.

oh ok thanks..

thnx for the advice guys.

hmm, since i placed the lil one in a small tank, i can only heat a small spot, as im afraid it will be too hot for it.

hmm, my fren told me its had its 1st shed.

btw, do i just leave the basking light on for the heat for like 12 hrs?
cos im worried if it'll affect her, the light intensity n stuff, while its asleep..

i try to keep a spot v moist too, but haven't included a moist box, which i wanted to.. but after seeing it hiding up...even at nite.. i kept to 1 hiding spot..occasionally its been going to water dish to soak(while trying to find its way out)

do you have a thermometer in there? you can keep the light on for 12 hours as long as it isnt getting too hot, the light is benificial for them to have a regular sleep schedual (compared to keeping it in a dim room all day, that just becomes dimmer at night) if it is an albino, it will be more sensitive to the light, but if you provide some more hides for it it shouldnt be a problem! you should be keeping a humid hide in there along with another hide on the opposit side of the one oyu have in there now. its ok if the gecko spends a lot of time in there, it knows where it feels most comfortable, and what is best for it! bathing in the water is (i think...) a sign of being too hot, either that or your gecko is getting stuck in is water dish, either way, you should get a shallower bowl, and look at monitoring your temps very closely. and most importantly, keep asking questions!!! dont worry about sounding noobish, as long as you are willing to listen, we are more than happy to help!

I agree mostly with Devious. You should start to be concerned if it still refuses to eat after a week or two.
