Laying eggs, incubation, and substrate questions

jjjunior66 Aug 20, 2004 01:16 PM

Heres the deal. I bought a female crested gecko. When i introduced her to my male, he started chasing after her kinda growling (which I heard is normal.) I recieved her on the 3rd of this month, and her belly is looking huge compared to my male. I am expecting (hopefully healthy) eggs anytime soon. How do you know when she is about to lay her eggs? Ive been adding calcium to her food, so they should be healthy.

I have a container with damp vermitulite alreadt waiting.

I also switched their substrate to day to bark, because before, it all was moist Bed-a-Beast. I put some of the bed-a-beast into a container where she will hopefully lay her eggs.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated
Justin

Check down a few posts, this question has already been answered. Also if you are using a loose substrate you may have a hard time locating the eggs. I use paper towels and provide a laying box. They will find it and lay their eggs there. If not you will most likely find the eggs in the bark floor after it is too late, most likely next time you clean it. They hide them pretty well. Best of luck!
