would you all say the 211 (24" W x 22" D x 14" H) would work for an adult bts? There is one available in a local classified so if you could let me know a bit quickly I owuld really appreciate it.

Just be sure it has good ventilation, and a place for your lighting.
Vision 211 is way too small! If money is the problem you could go with rubbermaid tub with spot light and screen top. This is how many breeders run their operations. I have no opinion on this system. My Blue Tongues have always been housed in a minimun 4 X 2 X 2 Melamines and 54" X 36" X 18" (I believe # 432) Vision cages. Northerns, Meraukes, & Irian Jayas I house in the large Visions. Gigas & Tanimbar in 4 X 2 X 2 and 5 X 2 X 2 Melamines. Building your own is also more satisfying and cost effective. The differences in behaviour of Skinks in crapped cages and adequit caging is Noticable.
Philippe de Vosjoli has always recommended caging: four times the lenght of animal and width of cage a least one and one half the animals lenght. This and more basic information for you can be found in "The Lizard Keeper's Handbook" by Philippe de Vsojoli, published in 1997.
thanks1 all
do you house them singaly in cages that size? Or do you run 2 females together in those large cages?

yeah - that is why I was asking if he kept multiples in the 54" X 36" X 18" cage. Although it is a very large cage - I was wondering if he maybe put two females in that one.
Personally I keep all of my herps alone. I find it easier to monitor food intake - not to mention aggression. However, my ackies do live together.
Each Blue Tongue is housed individually. Althought pairs or trios can be raised or housed together for short periods of time, aggression and injury are inevitable. Normally female BTS are introduced into males cage after cooling down period for breeding. Breeding must be closely monitored. Females due become scared from the natural breeding process.
You said before that BTS can be kept in rubbermaid with screen tops and spotlight. What ive heard, the plastics would melt. Any suggestions? I keep my trio of golden skinks on a rubbermaid and still trying to figure out a way to install lighting. They even said that UV light would also melt it.
You cut a hole in the lid and install metal screening.

NO! this is not a good size cage for an adult BTS. an adult BTS can get up to two feet. this is not even a minimum to keep one healthy and doesnt supply enough room. a minimum for a cage for an adult BTS is 3ftx18inx18in. bigger is always better!

I keep mine individualy in an open air pen wich is 4ft X 3ft X 1,5ft (L.W.H). Is this good enough 4 my Indo?
