I just saw a poor creature at a reptile show that was badly deformed: shell, beak and skin. Did not get a good look at tail, sorry.
Is turtle in question getting enough Calcium?? Diet is likely very key; I supplement my turtle's diet with 2 species of water plants from a local pond, and occasional other plant species.
A floating piece of cuttlefish may work wonders; they can gnaw at it and get calcium at their leisure.
Critical: exposure to sunlight - often. Even broad-spectrum light is not adequate; they need to be sunned as often as possible during good weather. On dry ground, or left in water for a FEW minutes.
