Finally gravid colors

chameleo19 Aug 20, 2004 03:01 PM

It only took my blue bar ambilobe female about 1.5-2 weeks to display gravid colors but she has finally got it. I knew she was gravid before she displayed these colors due to the fact that she slowed up her food intake, started to get plump, gained several grams in a short period of time, started to wander her cage more then what she used to, and was spending most of her day basking. I was just worried about her because she never displayed the gravid colors until 1.5-2 weeks after she showed signs other then color that she was gravid. The eggs are infertile because she was never bred but none the less it was a big sigh of relief for me when the one day I was weighing them and she caught sight of the male and wanted to rip his head off, that was the first day she displayed these gravid colors, then I knew for sure she truly was gravid. She still is very young too only being 7.5 months old it was at the same time a little shocking that she was already going to lay at such a young age. Well now all I have to do is keep everyone posted as to when she lays the eggs. She currently has stopped all food intake so it should be sometime soon.
