This seem like a good cage for a boa?

dmlove Aug 20, 2004 09:34 PM

I was thinking this cage for an adult red tail (Columbian). Am i shooting too small?

48W" x 26D" x 14H"- This is the best boa cage on the market! It is economical and space efficient. You will not be disappointed!

the size is just right...

what you want to look at is the fact that the vision cage doesn't come with heat, and has a lot of screen venting in the back. (last time i checked...) not exactly the best way to set them up...

check out www.theboaphile.com for his Boaphile Plastics caging, a much better, and competetively priced cage. they offer the same size, which is the right size as well, and will install heat and locks for you.

on the price, don't forget that the boaphile price includes shipping, which vision doesn't, and you'll have to pay to get heating for the vision outside of the purchase price and shipping, which makes the two pretty equal price wise. i just think the boaphile product is better. check 'em out! (there's also a link to the site from kingsnake's front page.)

I have the boaphile cages and LOVE them, easy to clean, heat and light right out of the box, just plug it in, add some newbpaper, a hidey hole and some water and you're pretty much ready to rock.

They're also light and easy to tote around if needed.

I had Boaphile 421D in the past, and currently purchased four Model 400 Vision cages.
Vision 400 size 48"x26"x14" for $199.99 shipped
Boaphile 421D size 48"x24"x11" for $199.99 shipped
Heating element is extra for both cage. You can just stick a TH-6 ZooMed under tank heat mat on both cage.
Lock is extra on both cage.
Vision has vent in the back, which you can control by partialy covering it with a towel, or a piece of plexi-glass on top to maintain humid inside cage, while you still have air circulation. Boaphile cage doesn't have vent, and humid accumulated inside cage, sometime result in water dripping from top when I open cage.
While Boaphile have one hinged plexi glass door with two latches more than 3 feet apart, and it gets foggy with the humid inside. Vision cage has two sliding glass doors which looks neat, secured, and professional.
An 8-foot Colombian boa look crowded in a 421D Boaphile, while I can keep a 10-foot Argentine in the 400 Vision with some room to roam
I really love the 400 Vision cage than any cages that I had in the past (Craven House melamine, Neodesha, Boaphile, and 322 and 422 Vision). I think the 400 model is a break through cage for boa keeper, and the price is outstanding.
