I think many panther females are reddish colored. Go to www.adcham.com and look for the info on panther locales and morphs. Might give you an idea. Some panther locales can interbreed and some can't. The genetics of this species are not that well understood. Why do you want to breed? If you aren't sure what you have maybe you shouldn't. There's been a lot of careless breeding in the captive population as it is, and trying to keep bloodlines clean is difficult. The chams may certainly physically be able and willing to mate, but the eggs may never hatch or you'll get nondescript hybrid babies no one will buy. Just my 2 cents. Chams don't have to breed to be healthy.

Hi-

Well I am in the US and not sure what pardalis locales you have up there. Are you referring to the female as red because she is a red color, or because she was sold to you as red? If she was sold to you as red, it could be a Tamatave or a Red Bar Ambanja. If she looks red and you are calling her red then it could be any locale. I know there is not much in the way of pardalis in Canada. and breeding a Nosy Be to an unknown could cause problems with people buying one thing and getting another. I am also not sure how good a bluexRed cross would look! Good Luck!

My female Panther was sold to me as a "Red" Panther Chameleon. I know most females are reddish brown in colour. So I wasnt sure what locale "Red" is from. Also i get different oppinions on the cross-breeding, some say it is frowned upon in the chameleon community and the babies will be "mutts" decreasing their value, while others say the opposite. Just wondering on you guys oppinion.

Thanks for your help

After calling the retailer, I found that is in fact a Red Bar Ambanja.

Actually in Canada, there is very little variety of Panthers besides Ambanjas and Nosy Be.
