Anyone have experience with acrylic?

AshleyM Jun 24, 2003 04:05 PM

I'm planning on making some large display cages out of acrylic - the cages will eventually hold my rainbow boas, Hogg Island boas, and scrub pythons. Does anyone here have experience with using acrylic as a material for cages? Does it hold heat/humidity well, is it durable, does it hold large snakes well, does it scratch as easily as Plexiglass? It seems an excellent compromise between glass and plexi, especially for a display cage, but I wanted to hear some past experience before my boyfriend and I start the project. Thanks!

To be more specific: I'm looking at using Acrylite brand acrylic, either the GP cell-cast sheet or the FF continuously-manufactured sheet.
