today at walmart I noticed that their playsand is really fine. Also pretty attractive compared to some stuff ive seen. 2.50 nailed me a 50 lb bag so i figured these guys prolly want some more digging space so i bought 3. Its in a clear bag any of you guys seen it at ur walmarts? Also one other question is aloevera safe for the cage? I thought it looked pretty nice so I bought one plus theyre supposed to be durable. Watcha guys think?

If it's play sand it should be fine. Do not think that there is no risk from it. Any substrate can cause problems so watch them. If they are noticeably eating it, take it out. I personally use it with my babies and haven't had a problem "yet", that doesn't mean you won't. Watch them!
Don't forget to sift it first. I use a screen colander, the same you can use for pasta or something. It works great. Just put the sifter in the tank, pour the sand in it and shake it. It's that easy.
Don't buy sand that is wet from being outside,, it's a pain to sift and can have mildew growing in it.

I don't know about the Aloe..

I use the playground sand for my tanks and have not had a problem with my beardies. As for the aloe I have a book about terrarium plants safe for reptile enclosures, and it states that aloe have spines that grow on them and are able to disembowel a small lizard. I do not know how big your beardie is but I would stay away from the type of plants that could possibily cause them harm.

The spikes on aloe aren't sharp, here is my dragon on hers. It didn't live very long, but she seemed to like it.

I have read that the aloe vera plant is safe for turtles to eat. I haven't been able to locate any info about beardies eating it. I don't think it would be harmful to them. I know that if using it to heal a beardies wounds on the skin or to help shed it works great! I'll keep my eyes open and if I find anything out about this amazing plant - I'll let you know. =D
