What do ticks look like and how do you get rid of them? more

SnakeFreak Jun 24, 2003 04:16 PM

I bought a 3 foot female at a show for $50. The guy said it was captive bred and feeding on jumbo mice and rat pups. I've had it for a little over a week and today I saw something on it that I think might be a tick. It looks like a reddish brown scale, except it's round, thicker and is on top of a scale. If it is a tick, is there anyway to get rid of it without pulling it off with tweezers? Also there are a couple paches of about one to five scales that look wrinkled and some of them stick out a little bit, anyone know what these are?

Sounds like a tick to me. My BP had 2 when I got it as a baby from being stored with a wild caught red tail. One was right under his chin! I pulled them off with tweezers, and applied Neosporin for 1 week or so. That was 1 year ago.
