Help to ID my garden lizard

I have this pic, was tacken in my garden back in South Africa but sure its an exotic as I cant find it in my local book related subjects.

Are you sure its an exotic?...looks like a young Nile Monitor Varanus niloticus to me.

Hey thanx man, It looks like a monitor of some sort but not sure what as the ones found in my area are rock or water monitors not nile. But will check it.

If you are in South Africa and its native it is a nile monitor...get the book snakes and other reptiles of Southern Africa by Bill Branch..published by Struick books.
