Just hatched my first 2 clutches of ball python eggs in the hovabator. All 6 eggs from BOTH clutches hatched out fine.

I used the NON-THERMAL model (no fan) just normal air-flow. I also used clear-tape and blocked off ALL OF the air-holes.

Used 2 parts perlite to 4 parts vermiculate, kept the incubator on the floor in a spare-bedroom. The bedroom was heated to 84-87 degrees.

The most IMPORTANT thing, I DID NOT use the built in waffer thermostat.

What I did was set the built in thermostat very high, not sure of the exact temp, but so long as it does not shut-off when being used with my other thermostat.

I used a Helix DPS-1000 thermostat, suspended the probe a few inches away from the center of the entire clutch of eggs, making sure that the probe does not touch anything.

Everthing worked out GREAT.

use any styrofoam box that is the same size around and taller than the one it came with.....*(pet shops get fish shipped in styrofoam boxes..some are same size....some aren't......keep looking.....

or make one from styrofoam sheets........

make the whole bottom taller by 3 or 5 inches...even more if you like......

I DO USE the wafer that comes with them...been using the same ones for ? 10 years....no problems.......*( and they don't need changed ven from year to year if you don't change or bump them around too much...).....

......89 degrees.......taller box..........good luck..have fun....

and as mentioned.....NO FAN......NO NO NO fan.........

Not spectacular, but they "can" work if you know what you're doing. Not my first choice for python eggs.
