super fat frog

newticus Aug 21, 2004 07:33 PM

Ok, my little guy sometimes looked like he's blown up like a balloon, and at other he looks pretty normal. Maybe a little saggy on his belly. I thought it was dropsy, i thought/think it's an impaction, but he eats, poos, pees, and moves on occation. He only really looks balloon like when i pick him up, or uncover him, stuff like that. Could it be he's puffing himself up? i haven't read anything about these frogs doing that, anyone have an idea?

yes, pac-mans, which i think you are referring to, can make themselves look bigger by blowing themselves up with air.

My pac-mans will both make themselves appear bigger when I first walk over. It is a natural defense to appear bigger than they really are. I wouldn't worry about it.

this is perfectly normal i beleive, happens to mines a lot, sometimes he looks huge, i personally thought it was liquid as i have observed him urinate in his water bowl and u could actually see it 'deflate' as it did this !!
