Opinions on my Albino

tdelliott Jun 24, 2003 04:43 PM

I would like opinions on whether or not this albino is a tangerine albino or not. I traded my sister for him when he was tiny, expecting him to be an regular albino. He is getting brighter and brighter with every shed and his tail is turning more and more orange. I just love the way he is turning out!

I am trying to decide what to breed with him next year and want to get the best match for him that I can. I am not sure of what his parents were like, therefore am not sure of his genes.

Thanks for your input,

I don't think he's a Tangerine Albino, but he is definitly a neon yellow albino. I'd say he falls under the "orange" or high yellow albino. A true tangerine albino has a bit more orange but regardless that is one awsome gecko, the yellow is so intense and bright on that gecko.

If I were you I wouldnt classify it as anything. It is what it is, one stunning albino. The picture alone would sell off its babies. I would breed it to some tangerine albinos though.

That's the Beautiful Phase Albino, I'm pretty sure. Not sure if you could call it Tangerine or not, but I like Wahberee's advice, don't try to classify it; it's just awesome. If/when you sell it's offspring, be sure to have a picture of the dad and try to find an equally stunning female for him.

Good luck

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate all of the great replies.

My sister lives only a couple of hours from me and we both love geckos. She had a few hatchlings that turned out to be the sex she already had. I don't think, however, that she would have traded me if she had known how he would turn out. I did return the favor and give her an awesome blizzard that I didn't have a female for He is really white.

I am searching now for a companion for my guy. We are going to the East Texas Herp Expo in September, so I will be keeping my eyes open.

Thanks again and have a great night,
Tamara in Texas

that is one seriously nice albino, and if you traded her for a blizzard you should still be laughing about it. Does your sister want to trade anymore geckos?LOL If I were you, I'd check out A&M gecko. They have some pretty pricey animals, but they are of the worthy quality you are looking for.

It's orange phase. Anyone that calls that color "yellow" needs glasses. Some people call somewhat orange- nor screaming- orangey geckos "yellow phase" as a way of emphasizing what their standards are. La di da. However, if that color was on my shirt I sure wouldn't call it yellow. Depending on the person though, that gecko could be called anything from yellow to orange to tangerine.

Very nice orange developing on the tail. I would mate it with a tangerine carrottail albino.
