HELP! My Roach Colony is getting HUGE!

SaveFerris Aug 21, 2004 09:09 PM

A little over a year ago I got 30 orange head roaches and now I have HUNDREDS. They are going to outgrow my big tub soon i think. How can I control my population? What can I do with the extras? Is it cruel to cut down on food, will that make them mate less?

Sounds like you've got a big problem on your hands. Your best bet is to pack up the extras and send them all to me.

No seriously, try selling them off to other people who own insectivores. Just look at the posts below. There is an obvious demand for non-flying non-climbing roaches.

Drop the temperature of the enclosure. Roaches typicaly like high heat and humidity. I breed my orange head roaches at 100+ degrees and the breed like crazy. But the lower the temp the less they breed and eat. This may not stop them from breeding but it will definately slow them down considerably. Cutting down or cutting off their food would just be cruel.

I would be more than happy to take some of those off you hands. Email me if you'd be willing to sell some to me.
