Got my first chameleon today!

Hetfield6J Aug 21, 2004 10:08 PM

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the forums for helping me out the last couple weeks, especially with the enclosure.

Once I got my new Veiled home, he gave me a good fight getting him into his enclosure, lots of hissing and gaping. After he was in his set up, i decieded to throw a few crixs in the bottom, set up his dripper and leave him alone for the day. So i dropped a cricket into his enclosure, and not 2 seconds after it hit the ground, he raced after it, and shot it down. He ate 3 quick like this before he went back up his plant. This surprised me because alot of people were saying he probably would be to afraid to eat with me around right away.

I then set up his dripper, and misted the enclosure abit. After about 5 minutes, he snuck himself into a good position, and had a drink or two.

I took these as great signs. Thanks again for all the help guys!

That's awesome. Sounds like the little cham is doing great. Veileds seem to be the least shy chams of all. All of my baby veileds eat wild spiders off the sides of my house. As they grow it seems like you can't feed them enough. Good luck with your cham.

Congrats on your new baby! Once I had one I knew I would never live without a cham again.

Gratz... where'd u get him?

Got it from a place i never considered before. Called the Road show on gratiot. Stopped in there to check them out, and the person there new quite a ton about chameleons. Wouldnt even sell me it unless i gave my set-up. Went to the place you suggested, but they dont open untill 12 everyday, and i almost always work at 1pm.
