Rsg, thought the hole was created from the inside, and that is true.

Here is the third pic in the series. Any more guesses as to whats going on. FR

Well I was right about one thing before, I did say I was probably way off! hahahaha

Well, now that I am paying attention to the holes, and with Rsg's added input, I would venture a guess that they are doing the close up the burrow while inside, open it back up to come out, cover it, do the day's work, open the burrow up to get in, repeated, etc....

ITs about the burrow.

Its also about how a picture or even a paper can be very misleading. So get devious. FR

?

The complicated part is throwing me off, I don't really see much that is complicated (with my monitors), usually I'm the one making it complicated and it is very simple. hahahaha

Now devious makes me think the broke the misting pipe underground and have caused a sink hole or it's another animal in the cage. But neither of those are complicated so I guess I'm out of ideas.

It was still fun though

Thanks,

Indeed, there was another female in the cage, she laid two eggs, in a chamber, close to the caved in tunnel.(still has more to lay)

The hole was caved in from underground. It was not dug, you should have noticed there were no piles of dirt, outside the hole.

Of interest is the behavior of the two animals on the surface. They did not try to dig up and eat the eggs, Nor did the laying female, have to fight them off. They simply watch the event.

Some here would lead you to believe, the others would attack, eat the eggs etc, etc, etc. That simply does happen if the group is a group. They actually help.

It seems this has some sort of social value. Now think about this, I am sure, If I took an individual from another cage(specially a male) and put it in there, they would indeed be problems such as fighting and nest destruction. In that, there is meaning. Could it be a social meaning?

Of more interest, you can leave the eggs in the cage and both females will lay more clutches, but they never disturb the eggs already in the cage. The male can dig all over, but never hit the eggs. I wonder what all that means. I have tested this many times.

I said down below, I could predict what will happen, That would have been, I know the eggs would not be good. The reason is, the male only breeds one of the females and not the other. You see, her mate died three years ago(Jefe's fault) and has not mated since. Hmmmmmmmmmmm more weird stuff, she still lays eggs.

All and all, seeing this is totally different then reading whatever is said about such things.

Thanks for playing(all who did) FR
