Small monitor species?

whoami? Aug 22, 2004 01:58 AM

I'm thinking of getting a monitor lizard. I'm interested in Savannah monitors, but I also want to look into other species first. A savannah monitor would probably be the biggest species I'd be willing to get, so what are some smaller monitor lizards?

And yeah, I know that just because it's small doesn't mean it's a good begginner species, but that at least gives me a place to start researching them.

So, what are some of the smaller monitors that are commercially available?

There are many dwarf monitor species, but the most available and a great beginner monitor is the ackie. They come in yellow and red and you can purchase them for $125 and up plus shipping. Some of the others are hard to come by and quite pricey by comparison. Good luck!
