Need help with lighting

michaelchameleon Aug 22, 2004 09:33 AM

So I am trying to decide what I want for my lighting and I want it to be perfect. My enclosure is 20L 12D and 30H, I want to use reptisun 10.0's. Now the hoods I am looking at are incandescent hoods one can hold 1 reptisun 10.0 and the other can hold 2. Now since I want everything to be perfect I am thinking about getting the hood that can use 2 reptisun 10.0's but I will also have a basking light on top of the cage too. So is using 2 reptisun 10.0's and a basking light to much light for an enclosure that measures 20L 12D and 30H? I could make the cage bigger but the chameleon is a baby panther.

When using fluorescent tube lights you can't really have "too much". They don't produce too much UVA or heat. I like double fixtures because they really add more general light level to the cage itself. Better for plants. You can also cycle one new UV bulb with an older one in the same fixture and get more use time out of them.
