What makes a blizzard in cal kings? Do you have a pic of an adult? And my final question, what are those babies going for?
Thanks Kerby
BTW I hear you are doing the Tucson show. I didn't think you were.

***What makes a blizzard in cal kings? Do you have a pic of an adult? And my final question, what are those babies going for?**
Don, according to discussion on this board a couple of years ago, some stated that the Blizzard was a result of breeding an albino cal king to a Baja Cal King (meleanistic), thus producing normal looking babies that were double hets. And then breeding back -1/16=Blizzard. The problem is with terminology. Some people call High White Cal Kings "snows", and some call Albino High White Cal Kings "snows", and some people call Blizzards "snows". All three are different, sooo..... in the General Care and Maintenance of Common Kings by David Perlowin (1992)he states:
"...and recently developed "snow king," resulting from introducing the albino trait into the chocolate (patternless) morph of the California kingsnake"
The problem with this quote from 1992 is where are all of these patterless chocolate cal kings???? The melanistic Baja cal king IS NOT patternless. When these Blizzards get to adult size and you take them out in the sunlight you can see some hint of yellow pattern on some. Last year (2003) I bred my Albino High White (patterless, except head mask and tail) to a Mendota (melanistic with aberrant pattern) and produced aberrant pattern cal kings that are now double hets. I kept the whole clutch and next year I will be breeding (1.2) from that clutch to each other. In therory I should produce some Blizzards (Albino Melanistic). We shall see...

I wasn't going to because of the cramped space for both vendors and customers last year. They said they fixed that problem for this year. Will find out this weekend, as I do have a booth.

The product of Albino High White x Mendota breeding. Some are black with white and some are like this one, brown with a light yellow. ALL have the solid brown belly from the Mendota mom.
Kerby...

Really nice white, but not like the white found normally on a cal king. Red eyes, no pattern.
