I was told by many people on here not to use the fan as it dries the eggs out. I too had the fan model so I just snipped the wire to the fan so it wouldn't work.

In both cases, it's important to put the eggs in a container inside the hovabator. With the fan model, I also put a water container with paper towels "wicking" out, and always make sure there's water in it. I also put water in the plastic liner with paper towels wicking out in both models.

In both models the temp may drift a bit with ambient room temp rises and falls so some minor adjustments are necessary on a daily basis.

I have used both with and without the fan. With the fan, it dries out the eggs faster. You must mist around the eggs more often.

I think fans would be a pain and dry out eggs...which means you have to add to it all the time.which means you could add too little or too much and screw the whole thing up.....

I use extra tall bottom so eggs are farther away from heating coils..........2 or more inches of vermiculite......dampen it and add eggs, then let it all go for 60 days*(each batch)....

........I used to add alot of water all the time and worry about eggs denting in a little.......

this year I didn't add any water hardly....the eggs dried out..shrunk up....and all hatched just fine......

.........good luck...JY
