Not a good idea most of the time. Pinkies are VERY high in fat and run a high risk of impaction. The only time I would even consider it is if you really need to pack some weight back on a female that just laid and then only a couple spread out over a week or so.

I agree with Sean. Females would be better off with a nutritionally ballanced diet like dusted silkies or a roaches or if they are not in an eating mood a couple cc's of pellets?

Personally I agree with you about the risks of rodents, not to mention the possable parasites they may contain. I would not feed rodents of any kind or size.

I do feed pinkies but only to gravid females. I feed 2 before they lay their clutch, and two after. I always dust them w/ calcium though to off set the phosphorus.

I don't think pinkies are high in phosphorus, I thought that only pertained to bugs?

acording to the chart on beautifuldragons, the Ca:P ratio for pinkies is 1:1. crix are 1:12 mealworms are 1:25 supers are 1:18

pinkies are not high in calcium do to the fact the bones are not vfully developed. They are high in fat and not easily digestible. the liver does contain d3 so that's a plus. but many rodents also contain mites and parasites, not good. There are other food options that will pack on weight and be more nutritious.
