Please help! A woman I work with has red eyed tree frogs (they were her sons who is tired of messing with them after only a couple weeks) I will admit I don't know a lot about them, but she is keeping them in simply a fish tank with a couple plastic plants and a damp paper towel floor. I know they will not survive in this for very long from what I've read, and I will admit I'm fairly new to frog keeping, but rather than letting her kill them because she doesn't care, I want to give this a shot. I am understanding the humidity and heat needs I believe from what I've read, but as for a cage, I'm a bit mystified as to the best and easiest cleaning setup. Plexiglass with a wooden frame and aquarium sealant over the rough edges and wood? or perhaps a 55 gal. turned upright with a plexi door? I would greatly prefer plastic plants over real ones and something on the floor such as astroturf, (worries of them ingesting moss, chips etc). My questions are I see things about false bottoms and live plants and moss and all of this is new to me. I've surfed a lot for info but am coming up confused. Can anyone throw me a bit of help? I know very little about setup and I know they are a hard first time frog but they have a better chance with me than her, and no one else she knows wants them, and I have always wanted frogs as I have had a bit of everything (rodents/snakes/fish/dogs/cats/iguana/rabbits) but a frog. She will turn them loose in the wild if no one takes them and we all know they won't survive that. Sorry for the long post, I'm lost! Thank you!
