Firebelly Toads

leopardjack Aug 22, 2004 02:34 PM

Hey I have two fire belly toads. I have a 5 gallon tank for them and a fake log (which the love to hid in.) and a fake plant (Which the crickets love.) I Have pepples at there flooring the dont seem to mind. I one day would like to have a fancier tank but i am to young to work, my parents dont like the idea of me having them anyways.
I have a couple things that i want to ask. One is one on my toads looks very much like the one on the top of this forum, but the other ones is not such a bright green and belly is more yellow than orange, is that because he is younger or just normaly like that. One of my other question is since my tank is not so fancy could you give me some tips of making it nicer and better for my frogs. And would it be possible if you guys send me in pictures of your tanks sop i could get some ideas.
Thanks.

Ok there is one thing i would like to add. should i get a tank dividor? It would let me have the possiblitly of putting soil down and more land room. But since the only one i could get would have to be permantent i could not raise or lower the hight easily and what if i want to get a bigger tank? Here is a picture of what my tank looks like now.

how many FBT's do you have? 5 gallon is small. half land half water is a good setup for a small tank. i have 4 in a 20 long and they are spoiled. for a larger setup i suggest 1/3 land the rest water with some floating bark. for toads they really love to swim. their are many differnet subspecies of bombina differing in all kinds of colors on backs and bellies. a bombina with a dark back and a yellow belly is a european species as opposed to the more common oriental species with orange belly and bright green back.
