Fellow Singaporean Reptile Keeper(that is based overseas!!!!!)

sscotts Aug 22, 2004 04:48 PM

All,
I am currently based in northern California. How many of you guys own reptiles? I am just curious because usually folks in S'pore will think that we are some kind of "nuts" for keeping these animals. Currently, I have 3 Water Monitors and 1 pair of Hoggs Island Boas. I have owned many other before.
I guess I try to enjoy this hobby while I still legally can.

hey,

Yea I've kept a corn and a couple of bronzebacks before...cohn's and painted. And I don't think its weird to keep exotic pets - even here. They're fascinating creatures.

Hi,
It is nice to know that not all think we are weird! LOL! I hope things(law) changes soon so that I do not have to part with my pets when I returned home. :>

actually, i think that there are actually quite a few Singaporean herpers but they all sorta stay out of sight cos of the damn laws against reptiles...
a change in those laws would be fantastic but knowing the way the AVA works i wouldn't get my hopes up too high...

ne... well said. and there are a even more of those damn irritating newbies who don't bother to do their research before wanting to get an iguana cos it's "cool"...oh and not to mention those who call themselves experienced just because they've kept a redknee before.. haha.

Hey, I'm keeping a water monitor too. He's still a juvenile though about 20" . How big are yours and what type of setups do you have for them?

Hi there,
I have been busy lately so had not had the chance to visit this forum. Anyway, currently I have 3 H2O monitor. My largest is a stunted female(at least that is what they claim) that I 'rescued' from a pet store here. I have her a a huge rubbermaid shed. Then, I have a 3.5", which I placed him in a 5' long modified acrylic aquarium. My smallest one is close to 3', which I placed in a neodeshah cage.
Where do you get yours?
