meal worms

snooky113 Aug 22, 2004 06:34 PM

I tried to feed my leos mealies instead of crix for the first time and they liked them, can I feed them just mealies from now on and throw crix in every now and then? Can all sizes eat the mealies? I have two that are about 7-9 grams. Thanks for the help.

You can use mealies as a staple diet thats what i do.

Crickets and mealworms are both good staple diets. Young geckos prefer crickets because they move around a lot more (and the leo gets plenty of exercise) but I think it's fine to feed mealies once the geckos get older.

Yes, it's fine. I feed my hatchlings only mealworms. Try to feed the smaller mealworms though that are 1" long or less.

If they are too long can the gecko throw them up, my female ate them last night and this morning there was a pile of 4 mealies in the tank? She is about 5 in., approx. 1 1/2 months old and 9 grams.
