pot bellied

shadow4108 Aug 22, 2004 07:16 PM

I have noticed lately that my dragon always seems to have a pot belly. He is going regularly that I can tell, and eating and acting normally. Is this normal? Could I be feeding him too much?
Also, I'm considering switching to astro turf from the sand that my dragon has been on because of ease of cleaning and availability. Any opinions?

All my full size dragons have big ol' "Buddha" bellies when they are in certain positions. It's most likely just a normal healthy dragon belly if nothing else seems to be questionable.

Regarding astroturf: I personally prefer newspaper. Make sure you get at least two pieces--one to use while you disinfect the other. Seems like a lot of work to me when compared to paper or shelf liner , but I know a lot of people like it.

Best,
Michele

there are many types and grades of fake grass. Be carefull. cheaper ones fall apart or flake easily. If your BD decides to chew it you don't want pieces coming off. Make sure it will stand up to a good washing. Lots of shelf liners are now machine washable. it is an easier option to keep clean.

I totally agree. If i even tried using astroturf my beardies would think it was lettuce and try to eat it. news paper or paper towels is alot easier than astroturf.
