American Toad's Growth Rate

Turtasal Aug 22, 2004 11:43 PM

I live in NW IN. Usually I see a brood of hatchlings about May or so. By the beginning of Sept. how big might this particular toad be? Just curious. We ran across a number of them about an inch an a half long just yesterday, and I was wondering if they are this year's brood or last years. Thanks for any help.

I live in South Bend and when i go to the state park i see large numbers of toads that are the same sizes you said. I would have to think they are from last years. I raised some tads(and released them when the morphed) and when they morphed they were probably less than half inch. I also saw the toads in the early part of the summer when mine were just tads still.
